Interview with Faze

Hello Stavros, first of all, tell us something about your upcoming work. What are you into at the moment?
Currently I’m between several projects. Two of my favorite are an identity design for a new hostel in the historic part of Athens, Greece and a personal doodle project I’m setting up for charity manners.

Tell us a little bit about yourself: where is home, and how long have you been a graphic designer?
I’m living and working in Athens, Greece. I’m a graphic designer and illustrator for nearly 5 years now.

Would you give a brief walk through your work flow?

Well, everything starts from the briefing. I like to meet my clients, and hear their needs. Once I understand them and their work, I start the research and brainstorming. Then I design a few proposals and present them. Based on the debrief I come to the final design and proceed to production. No matter the project love experimenting with new techniques. Whether it’s a mixed media illustration or a big scale installation it always brings me inspiration and fresh ideas.

How has your work evolved over the years from when you where beginning?
Through the years I’m working, I’ve learned the importance of research and understanding the projects needs. First I was overenthusiastic with every new project that I started designing the moment I had the job. Experience made me more thorough. Now my enthusiasm is still high but in addition I know how to study each project more carefully and then design the graphics.

Who’s the first designer that comes to your mind in a second?
Los Siento, a design studio from Spain that I admire for years. I love their passion in handmade design. It’s something I always encourage my self to do.

What’s the place or what do you do when you feel you’re thinking in a bright way?
I rush onto a black piece of paper and start sketching. Cause my inspiration comes and goes in a second and I want to capture it before I loose it.

What do you have in common with a teenager?

Passion for life and lots of humor.

Something you’ve always wanted to do, but have yet to.

fly. In any way, I don’t care.

Something you want the world to know about you.

I don’t know, If the world would like to know something about me he should feel welcome to ask me.

Something that annoys or frustrates you about people.

The negative and pessimistic behavior.

Your idea about social networks.

Nice, but we shouldn’t overestimate them. We should use em wisely and like any other tool. It’s a waste when people actually live through them.

A word that you hate.

It’s not the words that I hate it’s the way people use them, and the meaning that they give to them.

What upcoming shows, exhibitions, do you have coming up?

I’m preparing an art event in which illustrators, comic designers and street artists will come together and draw doodles for a good cause. It’s still work in progress so I’ll let you know when it’s more figured out.

If you had absolute power for one day, what would you do?
I’d fly.

Your house is on fire, what do you save?
My guitar.

What’s overrated today?
Buying products to feel good. In all that consumerism, we forgot what really matters and what we really need to live happily.
