Aniela Sobieski grew up in the Twin Cities and received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She creates small scale oil paintings of surreal, dream-like situations. These paintings operate as visual poetry, weaving together personal and archetypal symbols through a language inspired by classical painting. She currently lives in Syracuse, NY, where she is pursuing an MFA in painting.
